Learn about the different positions you can have with Hope School Mental Health
At Hope School Mental Health, we would not be able to do all that we do without people like you who volunteer their time in dedication towards the mental well-being of others!
There are many different ways you can volunteer your time through us. Here are short descriptions of each volunteer position:
*Also, please note, we are only accepting volunteers we can meet with in-person and outdoors, following social distancing guidelines. So please only show interest if you are close enough to drive to down-town Long Beach, CA for an in-person interview.
Business Attorney
As a Business Attorney with Hope School Mental Health, your primary duties will include:
- Assisting in the legal issues related to running a nonprofit, relating to therapy, and relating to the Californian health system.
- Advising the leadership of Hope School Mental Health in regard to providing therapy for members.
- Helping with the legal side of running a nonprofit business.
Cook in Long Beach
As our CEO, John Lashbrook himself has his own mental health challenges, one of the most practical ways you can help out Hope School Mental Health is by helping John cook his meals. Whether it be once a week or every day, all help is appreciated!
Your responsibilities will include:
• Prearranging one or more times throughout the week you can cook a meal for John Lashbrook.
• The ingredients will be bought for you. You are only in charge of the preparation.
Fundraising Team Member
The end goal is to raise roughly $10,000/month. This will let essential services of Hope School continue.
As a fundraiser you will be entitled to 10% of the funds you raise.
- Joining and/or leading fundraising and promotional efforts of Hope School. This will include making our services known to our targeted demographics and reaching out to donors.
- Working in conjunction with the Marketing Team.
- Joining regular meetings with the Hope School Mental Health leadership team.
Marketing Team Member
As a Marketing Team Member for Hope School Mental Health you will be in charge of the marketing efforts for making our services known to those who need it in the LA area. You will also join weekly meetings with the Hope School Mental Health team.
Your primary duties would include:
- Joining and/or leading promotional efforts of Hope School. This will include making our services known to our targeted demographics and potentially also reaching out to donors.
- Helping manage Hope School social media pages.
- Working in conjuntion with the Fundraising Team.
- Joining regular meetings with the Hope School Mental Health leadership team.
- Graphic design, videography, or photography experience or skill is welcome.
Nonprofit Business Accountant
As a nonprofit business accountant with Hope School Mental Health your primary duties will include:
- Managing the finances, expenses and bookkeeping of Hope School Mental Health.
- Joining regular meetings with the Hope School Mental Health leadership team.
Remote Christian Chaplain
- Meeting one-on-one, through online video calls with our clients to give spiritual direction.
- Addressing people’s questions and concerns related to the Christian faith.
- Giving practical, Biblical advice to help people walk with God through their struggles.
- Praying with and for clients.
- Optionally, leading online support groups for members.
- Joining regular meetings with the Hope School Mental Health leadership team.
Remote Christian Life Coach
- Meeting one-on-one, through online video calls with our mentally challenged clients to give life coaching.
- Giving clients practical actions to take to achieve their goals, one step at a time.
- Optionally, leading online support groups for members.
- Joining regular meetings with the Hope School Mental Health leadership team.
Remote Christian Therapist
- Meeting one-on-one, through online video calls with clients to give therapy.
- Optionally, leading online group therapy.
- Joining in regular meetings with the Hope School Mental Health leadership team.
Remote Junior Website Manager
As a Remote Junior Website Manager with Hope School Mental Health you will be assigned tasks for adding to the website and managing the website (WordPress).
Your primary duties will include:
- Correcting typos or visual glitches on the website as they arise.
- Making sure there is consistency in information found on different pages of our website.
- Researching and implementing website optimizations.
- Creating and editing pages as needed, including updating outdated information.
- Creating and publishing the forms on the website, for example, questionnaires, membership forms or contact forms.
- Moderating the mental health forum, making sure posts and comments there are appropriate and helpful.
- Continually looking out for ways to improve the website.
- Meeting remotely with the Hope School leadership at least once a week.
Remote Support Group Leader
As a Remote Support Group Leader with Hope School Mental Health, your primary duties will include:
- Planning for, and leading regular, scheduled zoom meetings for a consistent group of people.
- Creating a place for people to come alongside one another in this mental health journey.
- Organizing activities, discussions and sharing times that can take place in a video-call setting, in order to build up community which can work as a support to those with mental health challenges.
